TRAINING SCHOOLS TO BECOME A BOUNTY HUNTER
There are more and more bail enforcement training schools popping up around the country, as more states require training and licensing. Your local Bail Agent or Surety can usually recommend one in your area. Up until about five years ago you didn't have to be licensed, just about anywhere in the country. The right to re-arrest a defendant was given by a famous United States Supreme Court decision back in 1872. Lately laws have been continually changing and in some states you are required to have a license. Most states have recently enacted some sort of legislation that ranges from required training and/or required licensing. Depending on the State where you live and where you want to work. In some states you are required to have a license and or training and in some states you are not. Bounty Hunters rely on basic powers of normal citizens arrest. The Bail Bond is a civil contract between the defendant and Bail Agent. The Bail Agent then gives the power of re-arresting the defendant to the Bounty Hunter to act as their agent if the defendant absconds or is a flight risk.
